Lituanus Journal: Its Past and Present

Daiva Litvinskaitė (Vilnius University)

In 1954, the Lithuanian Student Association in the US founded an academic multidisciplinary journal Lituanus, with the purpose of informing the English-speaking world about Lithuania and the Baltic region. Over its 70 years of existence, the journal has undergone various changes but continues to be published to this day.

Lituanus is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal that publishes research articles along with literature and art. To date, it has approximately 1,000 subscribers and reaches 400 libraries worldwide. Over the years, it has accumulated a large archive of articles and literary works that are freely available to scholars online.

In my presentation, I give an overview of the journal’s historical background, its changes over time, discuss the journal’s archive, and address its current state.
