Young Researchers Discussion (Moderator: Ass. Prof. Dr. Jogil\u0117 Ulinskait\u0117)<\/p>\n
The<\/span> popularity<\/span> of<\/span> research<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> socialist<\/span> period<\/span> in<\/span> Central<\/span> and<\/span> Eastern <\/span>Europe<\/span> is<\/span> not<\/span> limited<\/span> to <\/span>those<\/span> who<\/span> lived<\/span> through<\/span> it \u2013 <\/span>young<\/span> researchers<\/span> who<\/span> have<\/span> no<\/span> personal<\/span> (<\/span>physical<\/span>) <\/span>experience<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> Soviet<\/span> era are also <\/span>actively<\/span> interested<\/span> in<\/span> it. <\/span>The<\/span> discussion<\/span> will<\/span> examine<\/span> how<\/span> much<\/span> (<\/span>if<\/span> at <\/span>all<\/span>) <\/span>the<\/span> perspectives<\/span> of<\/span> these<\/span> two<\/span> groups<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>those<\/span> who<\/span> lived<\/span> under<\/span> socialism<\/span> and<\/span> those<\/span> born<\/span> after<\/span> its<\/span> collapse<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>differ<\/span>, <\/span>and<\/span> will<\/span> ask<\/span> whether<\/span> distance<\/span> from<\/span> the<\/span> period<\/span> under<\/span> study<\/span> allows<\/span> for<\/span> a <\/span>more<\/span> critical<\/span> view<\/span> of<\/span> it, <\/span>or<\/span> perhaps<\/span> encourages<\/span> a <\/span>closer<\/span> and<\/span> more<\/span> sensitive<\/span> understanding<\/span> of<\/span> that<\/span> period<\/span>? <\/span>Among<\/span> other<\/span> things<\/span>, <\/span>today’s<\/span> context<\/span> will<\/span> be <\/span>discussed<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>how<\/span> the<\/span> younger<\/span> generation<\/span> of<\/span> researchers<\/span> interprets<\/span> the<\/span> recent<\/span> past<\/span> and<\/span> what<\/span> these<\/span> studies<\/span> can<\/span> tell<\/span> us<\/span> about<\/span> the<\/span> present<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Participants: Rusn\u0117 Marija Poligait\u0117 (Vilnius University), Tautvydas Petrauskas (Lithuanian Culture Research Institute), Marta Haiduchok (Central European University), Luisa Tousova (Charles University)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Young Researchers Discussion (Moderator: Ass.
