Gabija Vyšniauskaitė-Danušė (The Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore)

This presentation explores the Lithuanian diaspora in Latin America and its relationship with migration museums, expositions, and archives. By examining the historical and contemporary experiences of Lithuania’s diaspora in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, this study highlights how these institutions preserve and present historical data, aiding Lithuanian communities in finding their identity. This work underlines the significance of such institutions in fostering a sense of community among populations living abroad. The presentation aims to showcase key examples of communication between the diaspora and memory institutions, demonstrating their role in creating collective memory. This research contributes to broader discussions on migration, cultural preservation, and the support of diaspora communities by memory institutions.
