Dr. Ilona Strumickienė is a historian whose research focuses on the history of the Lithuanian diaspora, particularly its Catholic movement, as well as migration, memory politics, and twentieth-century Lithuanian history. She serves as Head of the Statehood Centre at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. Her doctoral dissertation examined the history of the Ateitis Federation, a Lithuanian Catholic youth and intellectual movement, in exile during the 1940s–1960s. Her research and publications focus on diaspora history, return migration, and the relationship between Lithuania and its global communities. She is also a researcher in the Vilnius University project Ateitis Federation in Exile, 1945–2020: Diaspora Concerns and Global Challenges.
