Libraries are witnessing a time of social transformation. Thus the main activities of libraries are geared toward change management. It is important for libraries to recognise trends associated with advancing society and to become an active contributor to these trends. Even in light of all these changes in the era of digitization, big data and artificial intelligence, the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania (LNB) retains its mission of preserving and managing that which has been created over centuries throughout the country. The National Library which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, offers a creative library space powering a democratic and participative society of literate and informed citizens of Lithuania. LNB’s vision is to become an integral part of the country’s progress in information policy, culture, education, science and economy.
