IFLA Satellite Meeting: The Challenge of Multiple Identities. Multiethnicity in Genealogy, Local History and Regional Memory – Challenges and Opportunities for Libraries and other Memory Institutions.

Overview of the Meeting:

Day One – Wednesday 16 AugustAn introduction to E-learning. This will be a combined presentation and workshop conducted by two experienced digital teachers (Tord Høivik and Kari Gerhardsen Vikestad) from Oslo and Akershus University of Applied Sciences, Norway.

Day Two – Thursday 17 August: Genealogy and Local History session includes ten brief and interesting presentations, with speakers from Hong Kong, Japan, Uganda, Nigeria, Brazil, Romania, Latvia and Lithuania, followed by small group discussions.

In the afternoon, our keynote speaker Daniel Horowitz from MyHeritage will present current developments and projects in the new and exciting field of DNA studies applied to genealogy. In
addition, Vigintas Stancelis from University of Vilnius will give a short presentation: Practical application of Open edX platform teaching Local History and Genealogy.
